In this video, you’ll learn how we got the New Testament (NT) and why we can trust that it is indeed the inspired Word of God.

We’ll review internal evidence (what Scripture says about itself) and external evidence (historical sources outside of the Bible). We’ll also address the following questions:

  • Did the NT authors know they were writing Scripture?
  • Did the NT authors view other NT writings as Scripture?
  • How did we get the NT? Can we trust it?
  • Who decided which books would be included in the NT and which would not?
  • What about other so-called Gospels and other writings that aren’t in the Bible?

This is lesson 1, part 3 of my introductory class on hermeneutics/bible interpretation. Click here for more details about the course. You can also find all 5 parts of lesson 1 here.
