Mission
Hi, I’m Jason. I’m a Christian, a husband to Kim, and a father to three sons and one daughter. I started It Starts with Dad to help people learn and teach others about the Bible, theology, and Christian living.
The site was originally geared toward fathers, especially those who were seeking to raise children that love God with all their heart, soul, and strength, and who will teach their kids to do the same. As interest grew, so did the diversity of the readers. I continue to provide resources for husbands and fathers, but most of the content is designed for a general audience. Whether you are a new Christian, someone who has walked with the Lord for decades, or a non-believer who is interested in learning more about why people follow Jesus, there is content here for you.

Personal Background
My family and I reside in Nairobi, Kenya. We have also lived in Tanzania and all over the U.S.A. Prior to moving to East Africa, I spent several years as a management consultant focusing on strategy, data analysis, and predictive analytics.
The Lord has been very kind to bless me with wonderful mentors and educational opportunities. That was one of the motivating factors for starting It Starts with Dad. I wanted to pass on what others have taught me, especially to those who do not have access to formal training and education.
I hold a master of divinity (M.Div.) from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY; a master of science (M.S.) from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA; and a bachelor of arts (B.A.) from Chapman University in Orange, CA. I’m also an ordained pastor.
Beliefs
I affirm and hold to the beliefs espoused in the Baptist Faith and Message (2000). I would also describe myself as Reformed, Evangelical, and complementarian.

- Grew up not knowing the Lord and lived that way.
- Even after God saved me, I wasted years being a lukewarm Christian. Bore no fruit. Lived only for myself. Became a horrible role model for my kids and a lousy spiritual head of my household. It took a trip to the emergency room to stop the tailspin.
- Re-prioritized my life around Jesus Christ. He convicted me to embrace and joyfully obey Deuteronomy 6:5-7.
